How To Measure Your Truck Bed For A Crossover Tool Box

How To Measure A Tool Box

Using the illustration above and the instructions below, measure your truck bed to ensure a proper fit for your toolbox.

Step 1

Measure the outside distance between your bed rails and compare it to measurement "A" in the illustration.

  • If the toolbox measurement is too small, it may not rest securely on the rails.
  • If it’s too large, it could overlap the rails, causing misalignment.

Step 2

Measure the inside distance between your bed rails and compare it with measurement "B." The toolbox you choose should be 1-2 inches narrower than this measurement.

Step 3

Measure the height of your truck bed from the top of the bed channels to the bottom. Ensure measurement "D" on the toolbox is less than your truck bed's height to guarantee a secure fit.

Step 4

Measure the distance between the front bed wall top rail and the front of your truck’s rear wheel well. Compare this with measurement "E" and leave at least 2 inches for adjustments to keep the toolbox parallel with the front rail.

Note: Be mindful of stake pocket holes or future installations like bed rails, tonneau covers, or ladder rack systems. The placement of the toolbox may limit options for these additions.
